Growth in value of Trust’s market investments
The value of Shetland Charitable Trust’s externally managed investments was £282 million at the end of the financial year 2018-19.
Reserves recovered in the first quarter of 2019 after dipping to £263 million in October due to turmoil on the financial markets.
Overall, funds under management of Baillie Gifford, BlackRock, Schroders and Insight increased in size by £28 million (11.3%) from April 2018.
“These are good figures,” said Trust chief executive Ann Black, “but the Trust views its investments on a long-term basis, not from year to year.
“That allows us to ensure stability in our spending patterns and to preserve the funds for future generations to benefit from.”
