Shetland Charitable Trust will earn a preferred annual return on its investment in the Viking

Energy Wind Farm without having to commit further funds to the project should it proceed.

Following an agreement reached between partners SSE Renewables and Viking Energy

Shetland (VES), SSE will provide all future financing for the wind farm, which will bid for a

CfD in this year’s auction round.

SCT Chair Bobby Hunter said: “This is a positive development which, if Viking is successful

in winning a CfD, will ensure that the Trust gains a return on the money it has invested to

date.

“At the same time, the Trust is not required to commit further capital sums to the project.”

VES Chair Alan Bryce said: "This agreement on the funding of the Viking wind farm is

excellent news and a major milestone on the road to a new renewables sector for

Shetland."
